The Sales Managers Index: China

The First Data on Economic Activity Levels in China - Every Month
Released: 25 June 2019

All Sector China Sales Indexes Remain Subdued in June Reflecting Continuing Economic Stagnation

  • Business Confidence remains low
  • Staffing levels remain in negative territory
  • Price levels continue to rise sharply
Overall the Chinese economy continues to grow, but at significantly lower levels than seen in recent years. The chief culprit is the manufacturing sector, which remains clearly in the doldrums. Service sector growth is higher, but not anywhere near the levels seen in the not so long ago days of rapid growth.
